MARRIED WITH CHILDREN
Spouse                               - 1st $200,000.00 + 1/3 of the rest
Children                             - 2/3 of the rest divided equally

UNMARRIED WITH CHILDREN
Common Law spouse        - inherits nothing
                                       - may have a claim for support          
Children                           - take all - childrens share paid into court & held till 18

JOINTLY HELD ASSETS      - go to survivor

LIFE INSURANCE, RSP'S    - go to named beneficiary

HAND WRITTEN WILLS AND FORMS OBTAINED FROM SOFTWARE AND STATIONARY SUPPLIERS AND EVEN TAKEN FROM THE INTERNET MAY WORK BUT OFTEN ARE INCOMPLETE AND CAN CREATE PROBLEMS WHICH YOU WILL NOT BE AROUND TO CORRECT.

A POWER OF ATTORNEY FOR PROPERTY AND ONE FOR PERSONAL CARE ARE RECOMMENDED.

Prices
A "simple" Will for an individual is usually about $250.00.
A "simple" Will soe a husband and wife, with Powers of Attorney for Property and Personal care for each I usually charge $500.00 plus GST.

If your relationship and/or assets are more complex the price may be higher.
